Claire Tran is a screenwriter, playwright, lyricist, and book writer. Claire’s screenplay, Steel Cutter, was the winner of the Fresh Voices Screenwriting Contest and Award for Diversity & Inclusion. Claire's other screenplays include Nghia on the Edge and Terminal H.

 

Additionally placed in eight other screenwriting contests including— CineStory Feature Retreat & Fellowship (Semi-Finalist), WeScreenplay Diverse Voices (Semi-Finalist), Filmatic (Semi-finalist) and The Script Lab (Semi-Finalist).

 

Musical Theatre writing includes Akira & the Merpeople, (Polyphone Festival 2020, Musical Theater Factory's 4x15 2019, THEatre ACCELERATOR 2019), Livin’ the Dreamboat (Astoria Center for the Performing Arts), Grandma Kim vs. America (HERE Arts Center Theater, Downtown Urban Theatre Festival), and Oh Soy, (Bella Concert Hall in Calgary and the Duplex Theatre). Claire is a Jonathan Larson Grant Finalist 2020.

Playwriting includes Steel Cutter, Eugene O’Neill Theater Center’s National Playwrights Conference Finalist 2017, and Fluffy, (Puerto Rican Traveling Theatre, Playwrights Showcase, optioned by JJ Films).

 

Claire’s songs have been performed at the National Alliance for Musical Theater, 54 Below, and Joe’s Pub. Training: Upright Citizens Brigade and an MFA in Musical Theatre Writing at NYU.
